26-Year-Old Woman Shoots Teen Attacker

A concealed carry holder on Chicago’s South Side shot a teen in self-defense after being stabbed during an argument. Both were taken to hospitals, and charges against the teen are pending.

CHICAGO, IL (2-minute read) — A heated altercation at 31st Street Beach late Saturday night resulted in a 17-year-old girl being shot by a 26-year-old concealed carry holder. The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. in the 3000 block of South Fort Dearborn Drive, on Chicago’s South Side.

According to police, the confrontation between the two women escalated when the teenager produced a sharp object and stabbed the older woman in the right arm. In response, the 26-year-old, who has both a valid Concealed Carry License (CCL) and Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) card, drew her firearm and shot the teen in the left shoulder.

Both individuals were transported to area hospitals; the concealed carry holder was in good condition, while the 17-year-old received treatment and was subsequently released. Pending charges against the teenager are currently under review by law enforcement.

This incident underscores the importance of being prepared to defend yourself should you find yourself in such a situation. The concealed carry holder, adhering to legal and safety protocols, utilized her firearm defensively in response to an immediate threat to her safety. While the situation is unfortunate, it highlights the significance of being prepared and understanding self-defense laws.

For individuals carrying firearms, it’s essential to be thoroughly familiar with local laws and to remain vigilant. Engaging in a confrontation should always be a last resort, and using a firearm should only occur in life-threatening situations.

Safety Tip: Always be aware of your surroundings and avoid confrontations whenever possible. If you carry a firearm, ensure you are well-trained in its use and knowledgeable about self-defense laws.
