Weekend Open Thread: One meme per customer Edition

Hey there boys and girls. It is Friday, and you survived once again. Here is a friendly Public Service Announcement from your friends at KNIFE Magazine…

Anyone else excited for Election Day?

On the positive side…

I apologize again that my posting was on the light side this week. It was Press Day Wednesday, Proof Day Thursday, and I got a late start because I was coaching all last weekend.

The tournament went pretty well, aside from one of our girls suffering a knee injury. My heart breaks for her, because she is going to lose club volleyball season at the very least. The only consolation is that it is only the second time that I have had a girl get severely hurt. Next week I will be attending that  other girl’s (who is now a senior) signing ceremony with D2 University of the Cumberlands. We went 1-3, losing to the 3 out of town travel teams 9-7, 12-, and 5-1. We did manage to beat our rival 4-3 on Sunday morning, to send them home. All of the girls who came played a ton, and will hit the field in the Spring more experienced players than they started the Fall.

I have been coaching against one of their assistants (on the left)  since our oldest daughters were in elementary school. They are now both in High School. He is climbing the ladder a second time with his younger daughter. His wife was laughing at us as she snapped the photos.

I shared a couple of memes like this last week, then found a bunch more…

But if you really want to terrify the kiddos…

A few more Halloween memes, literally in this case…

Always good to see the Spankees go down in flames…

Costume winner…

Or this…

Anyone have big plans this weekend?

I don’t know why it isn’t in the Event Calendar, because Bruce Voyles is the promoter. And Mark is there this weekend. I have to take my son to the Carson-Newman football game with his basketball team, so I won’t be making it.

Since we haven’t been able to fix the embeds, I am going to screencap the actual page, and like to it. So click on the photo to get to the info.

Next Weekend…

and finally…

Both of those are clickable, if you want more information.

Tonight’s musical guest is the great Bob Dylan.

The problem with today’s music is not enough Hammond Organ.

I love Dylan. I actually taught myself guitar with a Bob Dylan songbook.I performed Shelter from the Storm at the school open mic night in High School .

I could do nothing but dylan tunes for the next month easily, but I won’t do that to you. You have a bigger problem…

It is that time of year again…

We will miss the political ads when all is said and done.

Brace yourself…

Noooooo……!!!!!

Lisa is right. But she is drown out by commercialism.

This is definitely the meme format of the week…

Nothing is more topical than this…

Because we all want an extra hour of this election.

And while the Yankees are a terrible organization…

This was a class move by Scott Effross. Jim Donovan was the voice of the Browns, who passed away this week from Leukemia. Requiescat in Pace. I remember listening to Jimmy D back when he was sports reporter

On to the knife drawing. This week we are giving away a Browning Sage Creek folder. Congrats to Cmeat.  Welcome back Brother. It is good to have you back in the comment section. You are our winner.

I am actually out of knives at the moment, but am expecting a package from CRKT any day now, refreshing our prize shelf. In the mean time, I am going to give away 3 hats.  I need to reach out to Rod again, since he still has first pick from last week. Then I am going to draw 3 people from this week’s comments and you can pick in order.

Usual rules apply, up to 5 comments or replies are your entries, and if you are new to the blog your first comments will be held in moderation until I can approve them.

Good luck everybody.

Now on to our random memes…

In more ways than one.

Took me a second.

Rasputin looks like he smelled bad.

Accurate.

But we have been to the moon.

It is about time.

Probably more of a Halloween movie tbh.

If you pay attention you will notice the subtle differences.w

I must be a robot. Because I have no idea.

SEALS are badass.

Grammar Nazi.

Let me know why you chose Toys R Us in the comments.

Or Marvin the Martian.

The Star Wars films vary in quality.

Honestly one of the greatest figures of the 20th Century.

Too soon?

That sounds truly awful.

As I have each week for over a year now, I am taking a moment to interrupt our revelry and call for the release of the hostages in Gaza.

It may seem strange to change the subject in a humor thread.

But I can’t remain silent when I see so many people celebrating the kidnapping and slaughter of innocents.

There is nothing to “understand”. Israel was attacked by a genocidal enemy. They are entitled to take the fight to those that seek their destruction, and the blood of those that they hide behind are on the islamists’ hands and not Israel’s. Ultimately the blame falls on Iran.

But that isn’t to say that that we can’t find some humor in the situation, without forgetting the horrors being inflicted on the hostages.

This war could end tomorrow if the Hostages are released and the Hamas leadership goes into exile.

Bringing things back around, once again, Bob Dylan…

It is what I do…

My personal “alphabet” monitor hates when you do this…

That is a microagression. Back to sensitivity training.

It’s honest work. Have a good weekend everybody.

Don’t forget to vote.
