French designer Raphael Durand has contributed a new model to the Boker Magnum lineup. The Echidna hits shelves with materials chosen for affordability, but packs a look that can be traced directly back to Durand’s higher-end production and custom pieces.
Durand’s typical style occupies that space beyond “modern” or “traditional.” His works with some particular fusion of old and new concepts that make all of his knives feel timeless, tools that would make as much sense to a user from 100 years ago, as a modern-day forum-dwelling knife enthusiast. His designs also showcase an interest visual balance, where both the blade and handle are halves of the visual hole, each drawn as exaggerated, playfully bold renditions of the classic shapes.
Two hand open. Meant for the Euro market I would imagine.
