I beleive it was Murray Carter who told me that the Nakiri is the most common knife given in Japan as a wedding gift. The reason for this is that no one wants their gift (a knife with a point) to end up as Exhibit A at the trial if the marriage doesn’t work out. It might be apocryphal, but it is funny nonetheless.

Great use of time lapse in this video, with breaks for explanation. Well done.
