Coming back online…

Hey all,

If you are reading this, then you are probably not affected much by the fallout from Hurricane Helene.

First, our thoughts and prayers go out to those who bore the brunt of the damage, Florida, Georgia, Upper East TN, and Western NC, the latter looking to be suffering the worst of it.

Here in Knoxville we just caught the edge of it. Wind, flooding, and lots of power outages, but nothing like just 45 minutes East of us where the Nolichucky Dam was in danger of failing, and just a little farther east in Asheville, which is going through a biblical-level event.

There was no Weekend Open Thread this week, because I lost power Friday morning, and did not have it back until Saturday morning. Unfortunately, the internet in my neighborhood has not been restored to what it should be as of this writing mid-day Sunday. An annoyance that prevents me from working, but not something I am going to get in a twist over given what others are going through.

But it means that the website is going to be somewhat stagnant through midweek, since Press Day is Wednesday, and I still have some work to do on my column. But we should be back to speed shortly.

Appreciate your understanding.

Prayers for Asheville.

HCA
