Fort Worth, TX – AGirlandAGun.org – The sound of shotguns and cheers filled the air this weekend at Defender Outdoors Clay Sports Ranch as A Girl & A Gun hosted its 8th Annual Women’s Clays Extravaganza. From July 18–20, 102 women from 9 different states gathered in Fort Worth, Texas, to challenge themselves, earn NSCA punches, and celebrate excellence in shotgun sports.
Among the weekend’s top performers was Victoria Feather, who earned High Overall honors with standout performances across the board. Victoria won three events — 100-Bird Cowtown, 100-Bird Ranch, and 50-Bird Super Sporting — finishing the Super Sporting with a perfect score of 50/50. She and Bron Platts tied with an overall score of 178, and after a thrilling shoot-off, Bron earned High Overall Runner-Up.
In the 5-Stand event, Sharon Belt claimed 5-Stand HOA. Sharon says one of her favorite parts of the event is welcoming new shooters. “This shoot is special,” she said. “It gives ladies who may be proficient in other shooting disciplines the opportunity to learn sporting clays. Every ‘win’ is celebrated, whether it’s breaking a true pair, hitting a tricky rabbit target for the first time, or shooting a personal best.”
Throughout the weekend, participants enjoyed a mix of camaraderie, competition, and celebration. Professional instructors offered clinics prior to the shoot to help new competitors learn etiquette and techniques to have a successful weekend. Sponsors, including GPS Bags, Magpul, Briley, and others, contributed generous swag and prizes. The range provided the perfect backdrop for women to grow their skills and confidence in a supportive, high-caliber environment.
“We love seeing new shooters step into competition and absolutely crush it,” said Robyn Sandoval, President & CEO of A Girl & A Gun. “It was equally exciting to watch our experienced shooters display incredible talent on some very challenging target presentations. We’re deeply grateful to the sponsors, staff, and volunteers who made this event so incredible.”
As part of its ongoing commitment to growing the sport, A Girl & A Gun sponsored 14 NSCA memberships to new shooters at this registered event. The shoot generated 24,408 registered targets, with associated fees supporting both the National Sporting Clays Association (NSCA) and the Texas Sporting Clays Association (TSCA).
A Girl & A Gun continues to lead the way in bringing women into the shooting sports, and the Clays Extravaganza is a shining example of how confidence, community, and competition come together to create unforgettable experiences.
