HOUSTON, TX —  Houston Safari Club Foundation (HSCF) and the “Hunting Matters with Joe Betar” podcast welcomes John C. Poole, Executive Director for the Texas State Rifle Association (TSRA). 

John C. Poole is the Executive Director of the Texas State Rifle Association. He is a retired U. S. Border Patrol Agent (twenty-six years) and former U.S. Marine. John spent his first twenty-two years in the Border Patrol in the Great State of Texas, starting in 1986. He was a competitive shooter on the Border Patrol’s National Pistol Team for twenty-three years. John finished his Border Patrol career in Michigan and moved back to Maine where his family lived for over two hundred years. 

John has had several businesses along the way, including two restaurants and a hunting and fishing guide service in Maine for the last twelve years. John followed in the footsteps of his maternal grandfather who was a guide for thirty plus years. Along the way John did work for the U.S. Government in Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan. He has been a member and part of the TSRA since 1988, holding positions on the Board of Directors, and serving as Secretary and Treasurer. Most importantly,  John has been married for thirty-four years to an amazing woman and has two wonderful children, who are born Texans.
