USA Clay Target League Releases 2025 Impact Report

Eagan, Minnesota – The USA Clay Target League is excited to announce that its 2025 Annual Impact Report is now available.  This yearly report presents the impact of the League on students, schools, conservation, and the greater outdoor community. The League is the nationwide leader in providing clay target shooting as a safe and fun school-sponsored activity to schools and students nationwide.

“31 consecutive record-breaking seasons is nothing short of a testament to the demand for safe, school-approved clay target shooting sports” said John Nelson, President of the USA Clay Target League. “Including the 13,200 new students in 2025, over 83,000 high school and college students took their first steps into clay target shooting sports since 2020.  The League has helped hundreds thousands of athletes and families discover a life-long outdoor passion though America’s safest and most popular youth clay target shooting sports programs.”

With 55,832 participating athletes in 2025, the 501(c3) non-profit USA Clay Target League is the largest youth clay target shooting sport program in the nation as well as having the highest active participation of any clay target shooting sports organization in the world. The League offers trap, skeet, sporting clays, and 5-stand leagues to secondary and postsecondary schools across the country.

Highlights of the 2025 Annual Impact Report include:

• 13,200 new athletes
• 157 new teams
• Record 55,832 registered student athletes
• 31 consecutive record-breaking seasons.

“Over 11,300 coaches, range safety offers, and other volunteers guide and mentor these high school athletes and their teams. They are the heroes that make participation in the League a safe and fun activity for student athletes.” Nelson said. “Students are developing themselves and their teammates into respectful, responsible young adults while developing relationships that will extend far beyond the shooting range.”

About the USA Clay Target League

The League is the only 100% school-approved clay target shooting sport program in America and the League’s co-ed and adaptive nature are key attractions to schools nationwide. The League is fully Title IX compliant with both male and female athletes competing on the same team. Additionally, it’s an ‘adaptive’ sport, which allows students with physical disabilities to take part.

The League’s priorities are safety, fun, and marksmanship – in that order.

The League is the safest sport in school, with not one reported injury since the inception of the League in 2001. Each athlete must complete firearm safety certification before participation.
