The Connecting with Conservation Podcast Features Trio of Leading Firearm Industry Women

YORK, S.C. – June 25, 2025 – The Connecting with Conservation (CWC) Podcast hosts Dr. Jon Gassett of Wildlife Management Institute and Jim Curcuruto of Outdoor Stewards of Conservation Foundation (OSCF), welcome female industry leaders in recent episodes. Listeners and outdoor industry members can tune in to hear from Diana Rupp, editor of Sports Afield, Julie Golob, world champion shooter, social media influencer and OSCF board member and Beth Shimanski vice president of marketing at Savage Arms and Bowtech Archery Brands.

Women have been instrumental in transforming the outdoor industry into a more inclusive, innovative and conservation-minded space. Their influence, participation and leadership continues to expand and reshape both the business and culture of the outdoors. Golob, Rupp and Shimanski have all contributed in significant ways with personal contributions throughout their careers.

“There are so many remarkable women in the outdoor industry that have inspired me throughout my career,” stated National Deer Association CMO and OSCF Board Vice-Chair Jenifer Wisniewski. “Every episode of The Connecting with Conservation Podcast showcases interesting guests, but I do tend to drop what I am doing and tune in when a lady from this industry is featured because I know I’ll be encouraged.”

Recent guests include:

Season 2, Episode 18: Rupp shares stories about growing up outdoors and her passion for leading the nation’s oldest outdoor magazine over the past 23 years. Listen and watch on YouTube, PodBean and Apple Podcasts.

Season 2, Episode 22: Golob covers a wide variety of topics from hunting and target shooting to gun safety and cooking wild game in this action-packed episode. Listen and watch on YouTube, PodBean and Apple Podcasts.

Season 2, Episode 24: Shimanski discusses her non-traditional path to hunting and target shooting, as well as her passion for promoting Savage Arms’ extensive product line. Listen and watch on YouTube, PodBean and Apple Podcasts.

The Connecting with Conservation Podcast was created to allow a broad mix of guests from wildlife agencies, industry manufacturers and non-government organizations to share their stories about how they, and their organizations, support outdoor recreation and conservation. The conversational format, informative guests and compact episodes make it a great addition to any podcast rotation.

Additional featured episodes of the CWC Podcast include:

Season 2, Episode 16: Alison Hall of Traditions Performance Firearms.

Season 2, Episode 1: Karen Waldrop of Ducks Unlimited.

Season 1, Episode 8: Samantha Pedder of PayIt Outdoors.

Season 1, Episode 5: Emily Cope of South Carolina Dept. of Natural Resources.

Gasset and Curcuruto love to hear more conservation connection stories. Reach out to Dr. Jon Gassett or Jim Curcuruto  to become a guest on the CWC Podcast.
