Solis Go Review

I have to be honest, when I first got the Solis Go, I didn’t take it all that seriously. For the first 5 months, I didn’t even open the box, it just sat on my workbench as something I didn’t think I needed and it took a little prompting to even get me to open up the box and get it all set up. However, in September, that all changed. I was prepping for a solo hunt and I wanted a little bit of extra power and oomph while traveling off the grid and away from signal that I knew I could count on. Set up was easy and once I started using this, the value of the Solis Go jumped dramatically in my mind and it started traveling with me on every trip no matter where I was headed.

The Solis GO is both a powerbank as well as a pocket-sized Wi-Fi hotspot that you can use in places like airports and places where logging on to public wifi is not the safest thing you want to be doing. As well, in locations where your phone might struggle to find signal on a single carrier, I have found that the Solis GO seems to do a better job of logging in and grabbing a data signal much better than just my phone without being logged in to the Solis Go wifi. Having 8000 mAh as a power bank also helps when I am traveling is always a welcome advantage. The Solis Go now has made its way into my daily travel pack as well as my hunting pack as a welcome part of my kit. While I am hunting, I am often using the phone to log in and track my location using onX Hunt and watching weather as well as filming and photographing quite a bit. These all eat batteries especially when the temps are fluctuating wildly.

The Solis GO works in over 140 countries and data plans are more than reasonable and you can use up to 10 devices per unit if you are traveling as a family. I have been able to keep my phone charged up all day regardless of how much time I spend on my phone which gives me the piece of mind to know that if I have to spend the night on the mountain, I am going to have enough power and enough connection to let those who are important to me know I am okay. This isn’t a replacement for a satellite messenger but if you are going to carry a power bank either way, this is a tool that has some extra features and extra coverage that could really help you when you need it.

Should you buy the Solis Go?

The simple answer is YES. If you are going to have to have a power bank with you, it makes a lot of sense to upgrade to the Solis Go and have that little bit of increased signal in locations where wifi may not exist or logging on to questionable wifi signal is a security risk. In locations where logging on to your local carrier is questionable the Solis Go shines because of its ability as a multi-carrier device and having the power to keep you charged up is a smart investment in your pack when walking away from your vehicle.
