This year’s event was held at the Green Valley Rifle & Pistol Club in Hallsville, Missouri, May 21-24.
The Bianchi Cup is considered to be the premiere pistol competition, drawing top-level competitors from across the world. This year’s competition marks the 20th time Koenig has captured the leading slot. Doug’s impressive performance netted perfect scores in the Practical, Barricade, Moving Target, and Falling Plates events, making him the Overall Winner in the Open category with a phenomenal 1,920 – 183X Grand Aggregate score and handing him the Overall National Champion title.
Koenig employed a Ruger Custom Shop SR1911 Competition pistol to achieve this monumental win.
“This was my 20th Bianchi cup win,” said Koenig. “There were three shooters with perfect scores of 1920, and I won by X count (tie breaker).
