Join the Professional Outdoor Media Association (POMA) for our next Basecamp Meet-Up at SHOT Show on Wednesday, January 21 at 4 p.m. in room Delfino 4001AB in the Venetian. POMA members and SHOT Show media attendees are invited to this free event.
“POMA Basecamps are special gatherings for media members to network and hear from industry leaders,” said POMA Executive Director, Stephanie Spika Hickey. “The event will include brief updates from our sponsors, complimentary beer, door prizes and time for networking.”
This year’s speakers are all sponsors of the event. They include:
- Justin Morrissey, Director, Social Media, NSSF – The Firearm Trade Association
- Rob Sexton, Senior Vice President, Sportsmen’s Alliance
- Tony Schoonen, CEO, Boone and Crockett Club
- Kevin Reese, Senior Media Relations Specialist, Pulsar
Morrissey will give an overview about SHOT Show’s impact, and he will also highlight NSSF resources and research available to media professionals.
Sexton will discuss key litigation and issues impacting the rights of hunters and shooters.
Schoonen will share the results of five years of research providing the most comprehensive review of domestic wildlife poaching in U.S. history. Wildlife crimes, such as illegal take and other breaches of hunting, fishing and trapping regulations, can significantly harm wildlife populations, diminish the hunting experience and affect social acceptance among both hunters and non-hunters. The Club’s Poach & Pay research is now transitioning into legislative and public outreach efforts to differentiate between legal, ethical hunters and poachers and to show that poaching is not a victimless crime.
Reese will share information about Pulsar, as well as tout the benefits of a POMA membership. Reese is the immediate past president of POMA.
In addition to hearing from these speakers, attendees will also hear the latest from POMA, the trade association representing media professionals who make their living specializing in the outdoors.
“The POMA Basecamp series is designed to bring outdoor media together to gather, align and grow while also creating meaningful and enjoyable networking opportunities for media professionals,” explained Spika Hickey. “We’re extremely thankful to NSSF for hosting us during their flagship event and to our sponsors for their continued support.”
No registration is necessary to attend this POMA Meet-Up. You do not need to be a POMA member to attend.
