Perfect Gift for the Hunter or Shooter on Your List

PRINCETON, WEST VA (Nov. 3, 2025) — This holiday season, give the perfect gift for the hunter or shooter on your list with Rifle Cartridges for the Hunter: A Hunting Journal Spanning a Half-Century. This exceptional new book by author, hunter, and gun writer Richard Mann takes readers on a journey through 50 different rifle cartridges he has used on hunting adventures around the world. In 408 pages, Mann shares his expertise and personal stories, making this a must-have for any rifle enthusiast and hunter.

The softcover book features 125 color photographs, a foreword by outdoor/rifle writer John Barsness, and an introduction by Gun Digest Editor-in-Chief Luke Hartle. Whether you’re searching for the perfect stocking stuffer or a unique gift for a hunter, this book provides a captivating blend of personal anecdotes and technical insights.

Richard Mann grew up hunting in the hills of West Virginia and has spent a lifetime pursuing game in diverse and exotic locations. His straightforward, hillbilly style brings these experiences to life as he explores the capabilities of 50 different rifle cartridges and the personal connections hunters form with the tools they use. From Appalachian tree squirrels to African buffalo in Mozambique, Mann’s stories bring the excitement and magic of hunting to readers.

Unlike technical manuals, Rifle Cartridges for the Hunter is a collection of gripping stories and insightful commentary from renowned experts, including Field & Stream rifle editor Dave Petzal, outdoor writer Ron Spomer, Buffalo Bore founder Tim Sundles, and African professional hunter Geoffrey Wayland. It’s essential reading for anyone who hunts with a rifle or is passionate about hunting history and stories.

Gun Digest Editor-in-Chief Luke Hartle praised Mann’s writing, saying, “When most authors put words on a page, they either become an entertainer or educator. Richard has the unique ability of being both simultaneously, and this book is a shining example of that gift.”

Rifle Cartridges for the Hunter: A Hunting Journal Spanning a Half-Century is available for $34.99 on Amazon.com under ASIN ID#: BOFTXD4XWD or ISBN: 9798267056892.
