Pass It On – Outdoor Mentors Welcomes Steve Windom as Development Director

Pass It On – Outdoor Mentors is excited to welcome Steve Windom to our team as our new Development Director. Steve brings more than 20 years of fundraising experience, having worked with a variety of national and statewide nonprofit organizations. Throughout his career, he has worn many hats and brings deep expertise in special events, major donors, planned giving, corporate partnerships, and foundation engagement.

Steve holds a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Communications from Western Michigan University, along with minors in Nonprofit Management and Marketing—a combination that perfectly aligns with the strategic and relationship-driven work of advancing our mission.

“Our mission has always been about relationships—between mentors and youth, families and the outdoors, and supporters who believe in what we do,” said Scott Petrie, CEO of Pass It On – Outdoor Mentors. “Steve’s depth of experience and genuine passion for mentoring through the outdoors make him an incredible addition to our team. We are thrilled to have him on board and excited for the impact he will help us create.”

Growing up in Southeast Michigan, Steve learned to hunt and fish from his father—experiences that shaped his lifelong appreciation for the outdoors and the powerful role it can play in a young person’s life. An outdoor generalist at heart, Steve enjoys all types of fishing and loves to hunt deer, turkey, waterfowl, and squirrels, with hopes of adding trapping to his skillset one day.

As a father of three, Steve has lived the Outdoor Mentors lifestyle firsthand. He introduced his two sons and daughter to hunting and fishing at a young age and treasures the opportunity to pass along the memories, lessons, and values his father shared with him. That personal connection to mentorship is what drew Steve to Pass It On – Outdoor Mentors.

Still calling Michigan home, Steve is excited to help grow Pass It On – Outdoor Mentors throughout the Midwest, with a long-term vision of expanding our impact coast to coast. In his role as Development Director, Steve’s initial focus will be on major donors, foundation giving, and corporate partnerships, while also developing and expanding our planned giving society to ensure the sustainability of our mission for generations to come.

Please join us in welcoming Steve Windom to the Pass It On – Outdoor Mentors family. We’re excited for what’s ahead and grateful to have Steve helping us pass on outdoor traditions through mentorship. You can contact him today at [email protected] or at 810-730-2267.
