Orr Sets New National Record at CMP’s 2025 Three-Position Air Rifle Regionals

Top athletes have been confirmed for the Civilian Marksmanship Program’s (CMP) Three-Position Regional Air Rifle Championship! The event was held in April at CMP’s own air gun competition centers in Ohio and Alabama as well as through the use of CMP’s mobile electronic range in Utah. Overall, the Regional Championships saw 578 athletes.

The annual competition series is designed for junior air rifle athletes involved in 4-H, Scouts, American Legion, club or JROTC sporter and precision air rifle programs from around the nation. Participants begin with a postal match, followed by regional and national events. During the two-day match, competitors fire from three positions: kneeling, prone and standing. Qualification scores are recorded each day, with the eight highest scoring athletes from each discipline participating in an elimination final on Day 2 to determine overall winners.

Special congratulations to Alexandra Orr, 14, of Lafayette Gun Club, VA, who not only established a new national record for her individual Sporter 20 Shot Prone score on Day 1 of the match but, incredibly, returned to break the record again on Day 2 – setting the bar at 199-17X.

Also reaching new national record scores at the CMP Regional Championship was Isabella Goldstein, 16, of Patriot Shooting Club 4-H, VA, with an individual 4-H 3×20 score of 598-51X. Goldstein additionally secured an outstanding individual 4-H 20 Shot Standing record of 200-16X.

Not to be outdone, Kelsey Dardas, 14, of Fountain Fort Carson High School, CO, fired an Army JROTC and Age Group 3 Kneeling record score of 200-20X. She also tied the current Open/Overall record for the kneeling position with the same score.
