MOUNTAIN HOUSE INVITES BACKPACKERS TO GO THE EXTRA MILE WITH PRIZE-PACKED RECYCLING CONTEST

Mountain House, the #1 brand offering freeze-dried meals for outdoor adventure, has teamed up with international sustainability solutions leader TerraCycle to give “leave no trace” an even greater meaning with the announcement of the Mountain House Recycling Contest.

From September 1st through October 31st, 2024, outdoors enthusiasts, enrolled in the Mountain House Free Recycling program, are challenged to recycle Mountain House plastic flexible pouches with TerraCycle, keeping hard-to-recycle packaging out of landfills and incinerators. The top three collectors who send the most Mountain House packaging to TerraCycle for recycling have a chance to win a prize bundle consisting of a Mountain House Expedition Bucket (includes 15 pouches or 5 days’ worth of freeze-dried meals) and a BioLite Electricity Generating CampStove 2+–ensuring backpackers can make the most out of their meals with BioLite’s award-winning patented combustion technology while simultaneously charging their gear after a long trek.

Participation in the contest couldn’t be easier. Simply sign up for the Mountain House Free Recycling Program, download a prepaid shipping label, and send in the Mountain House plastic flexible pouches to be recycled. Once received at TerraCycle’s material recycling facilities, the packaging is shredded, cleaned and transformed into raw materials used to make new recycled products.

A full set of rules for the Mountain House Recycling Contest can be viewed [here].

Separate from the Mountain House Recycling Contest, the Mountain House Free Recycling Program is open to any interested individual, school, or community organization. Additionally, participants can earn TerraCycle Recycling Reward points for each shipment, which can be redeemed for cash donations to any school or nonprofit organization of their choice.
