Houston Safari Club Foundation (HSCF) Awards Nearly ,000 in Q1 Grants to Support Youth and Conservation Programs

Houston, TX – [May 1, 2025] – The Houston Safari Club Foundation (HSCF) is proud to announce the fulfillment of nearly $30,000 in grants during the first quarter of 2025, supporting youth education and wildlife conservation initiatives across the country.

HSCF’s Q1 grants are funding important projects through three outstanding organizations:

Outdoor Tomorrow Foundation (OTF)
As part of its Partnership Initiative, HSCF has sponsored the shooting sports unit of Outdoor Adventures (OA), a program of the Outdoor Tomorrow Foundation. This support helps expand OA’s reach in Houston and nationwide, connecting over 160,000 students annually with the outdoors. HSCF’s sponsorship has contributed to improvements in OA’s curriculum and to the development of dynamic teacher training programs, which now offer in-person, video, and virtual options. These training courses not only ensure a high standard of outdoor education but also help recruit new schools to the program.

Texas A&M University – Natural Resources Institute
HSCF is also supporting the Department of Rangeland, Wildlife and Fisheries Management (RWFM) at Texas A&M University. Funding is helping deliver RWFM 422/689, a Large Mammal Ecology and Management course that provides hands-on experiences in wildlife management. Students participate in white-tailed deer capture projects, learning critical skills like capture-mark-recapture methods and GPS tracking. The program equips future conservation professionals with real-world training essential for their careers in wildlife management.

Children’s Kingdom Ministries
HSCF’s grant has enabled Children’s Kingdom Ministries to take children facing special challenges on a wildlife photography journey through Colorado and Wyoming. Participants photograph bighorn sheep and elk, learn about the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation, and have the chance to publish their work in Higher Calling Wildlife magazine. The program also includes teaching photography-based conservation classes at a camp for underprivileged youth in Wyoming, fostering lasting mentorships and encouraging lifelong involvement in wildlife conservation.

“Our mission is to preserve the sport of hunting through education, conservation, and the promotion of our hunting heritage,” said Joe Betar, Executive Director of HSCF. “These grants are an investment in the next generation of conservationists and outdoor enthusiasts.”
