Houston Safari Club Foundation Awards Grants to Support Conservation and Education Initiatives

Houston, TX – [January 6, 2025] – The Houston Safari Club Foundation (HSCF) is proud to announce the recipients of its latest round of grants, supporting a wide range of conservation, habitat restoration, and education efforts locally and internationally. These grants, totaling $25,000, underscore HSCF’s commitment to preserving wildlife and promoting the hunting heritage through impactful projects and programs.

Grant Recipients and Projects:

Coastal Prairie Conservancy (CPC): $5,000. This grant will support crucial stewardship projects in Texas, enhancing native habitats and promoting biodiversity. Key initiatives include:

  • Indiangrass Preserve: Enhancements to public access, trail improvements, and a native seed nursery.
  • Shrike Prairie: Habitat restoration to benefit pollinators and wildlife.
  • Williams Prairie: Preservation of a biodiverse remnant prairie with mowed trails and invasive species management.
  • Blazing Star Sanctuary: Development of a wetland habitat critical for migratory birds.
  • Mary Manor Parcel: Habitat support for bird populations and regular waterfowl hunting opportunities.

Texas Wildlife Association Foundation (TWAF): $10,000. The grant will advance two impactful programs in the Houston area:

  • Texas Youth Hunting Program (TYHP): Educating and mentoring young hunters to foster a lifelong appreciation for wildlife and conservation.
  • Adult Learn to Hunt Program (ALHP): Providing hands-on experiences and education for adults interested in hunting and conservation practices.

Zambeze Delta Safaris: $10,000. This grant will fund the Zambezi Delta Conservation Anti-Poaching Unit (APU) in central Mozambique. The APU protects wildlife populations through:

  • Ranger salaries, equipment, and training.
  • Patrolling operations, including fuel costs for motorbikes, vehicles, and helicopters.

This effort is vital for safeguarding biodiversity and supporting the restoration of wildlife populations in the Zambezi Delta.
