Minnesota native Mike Sidders aims to expand the reach and impact of Delta’s messaging

BISMARCK, NORTH DAKOTA — Mike Sidders knows Delta Waterfowl, ducks, and duck hunters. Importantly, Sidders has spent his entire career honing his skills as a marketing professional, with more than 25 years working for businesses and brands tailored to appeal to outdoorsmen and women.

A lifelong waterfowl hunter, Sidders brings his marketing talent, experience, and leadership to Delta as vice president of marketing and communications.

“We’re excited to have Mike Sidders join our staff to lead our creative team in their work to tell the compelling story of The Duck Hunters Organization,” said Jason Tharpe, Delta’s chief executive officer. “He’s an extremely talented, proven marketing professional and an avid duck hunter who’s been a member of the Delta family for decades as chapter volunteer, member, and supporter.”

Sidders served as the senior-most marketing leader at Fleet Farm, one of the Midwest’s largest outdoors and sporting goods retailers. He directed all marketing functions, including advertising and brand development. His additional marketing leadership includes a stint at Gander Mountain, as well as time managing legacy outdoor brands Dunn’s and Herter’s. Most recently, Sidders built and led a marketing department for Lakeshirts, a $200-million-a-year apparel and accessories company.

More than two decades ago, Sidders helped start Delta’s successful West Metro Chapter in Waconia, Minnesota. He still attends the chapter’s annual fundraising banquet, and he’s a proud member of Delta’s Legacy Society.

“The work Delta does—to produce ducks and protect the future of waterfowl hunting—is unlike any other conservation group. That’s why Delta is The Duck Hunters Organization,” Sidders said. “I’m honored to be here doing this work.”

When not working, Sidders is partner in a second-generation duck club in central Minnesota, which he’s been part of since 1986. “It’s rustic, but the hunting and camaraderie make the trade-off worth it. We wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Sidders will strive to mold Delta’s creative media professionals into a best-in-conservation marketing and communications team.

“Delta makes ducks and makes duck hunters — that’s what we do as an organization,” he said. “I’m looking forward to working with our team to consistently tell that story and make it abundantly clear that if you care about duck hunting, you should also care about Delta Waterfowl.”

Delta Waterfowl is The Duck Hunters Organization, a leading conservation group working to produce ducks and secure the future of waterfowl hunting in North America. Visit deltawaterfowl.org.
