MABA 250 lays out a vision to promote stewardship of natural resources and expand outdoor recreation opportunities

BISMARCK, NORTH DAKOTA — The Make America Beautiful Again Commission met yesterday in Washington, D.C., to discuss the goals of the Administration’s Make America Beautiful Executive Order issued last July. The Commission laid out a vision to conserve America’s wild places and expand outdoor recreation opportunities.

Chaired by Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum and joined by key members of the Trump Administration, the MABA Commission is tasked with promoting stewardship of our natural resources, enhancing access to public lands, encouraging conservation on working private lands, and aiding wildlife populations.

“We are enthusiastic about the potential of the Commission to drive positive change for ducks, duck habitat, and duck hunters that is possible as our nation nears our 250th anniversary,” said Jason Tharpe, chief executive officer of Delta Waterfowl. “The first meeting of the Commission and its work in the coming months represents a tremendous opportunity to celebrate and lead in new conservation action and increased access-both key priorities of duck hunters across the country. Delta and our members, volunteers and supporters are here to help in these ambitious goals as is the whole of the conservation and hunting community.”

Delta is especially eager to see the Commission’s consistent reference to expanding voluntary conservation action.

“Delta has long held that the health of our duck habitat and duck populations runs through the farm gates of farmers and ranchers across the country,” Tharpe said. “Innovative solutions that reward the stewardship of waterfowl habitat while sustaining working agricultural lands are the surest path to the large fall flights all duck hunters desire. We are excited to work with the Commission — especially Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins — to see these solutions positively impact farmers, duck habitat, and ultimately, duck hunters.”
