Colonel Nick Nichols Discusses Service & Sacrifice on “The Michael Waddell Podcast”

DENVER (August 27, 2025) – The Michael Waddell Podcast, presented by Spandau Arms and in partnership with Spartan Precision and Folds of Honor, welcomes its latest guest, Colonel Nick Nichols President of Folds of Honor, for an inspiring conversation about service, sacrifice, and the core values that shape our lives. The Michael Waddell Podcast is produced by Outdoor Sportsman Group and is available widely on MyOutdoorTV, Outdoor Channel YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and OutdoorChannel.com, to name a few.

Folds of Honor, the non-profit organization represented by Colonel Nichols, provides educational scholarships to the spouses and children of America’s fallen or disabled service members and first responders. Through his decades of service and leadership, Colonel Nichols has become a steadfast advocate for deserving families, carrying forward a mission deeply rooted in gratitude and hope. His appearance on The Michael Waddell Podcast offers listeners a unique perspective on the powerful connections between duty, family, and faith.

“Colonel Nick Nichols embodies the ideals of honor, service, and perseverance that we celebrate,” shared Michael Waddell. “We talked about everything from what’s it is really like to fly an F-16 and have split second decisions to make – to which bow Colonel Nick is picking up this fall – all stories that inspire us to think more about what it is be an American today. It’s one you don’t want to miss.”

Colonel Nick Nichols is a decorated USAF F-16 pilot with seven combat tours spanning Afghanistan and Iraq. Over his three-decade military career, Col Nichols served as a Group Commander, leading nearly 500 Airmen and managing almost $1 billion in military assets. His dedication to service was inspired by his father, a Vietnam veteran and combat pilot, whose legacy and tragic loss when Nichols was fifteen set him on a path of honor and commitment.

On October 11, 2018, after 30 years of military service, Col Nichols stepped out of the F-16 cockpit for the last time and, alongside his wife Carrie, embarked on a new chapter dedicated to supporting the families of fallen or disabled American heroes. “It is an honor to share the stories of our military and first responder families and the sacrifices they make. Folds of Honor is committed to ensuring their legacies are never forgotten,” said Colonel Nick Nichols. “It was truly a pleasure to sit down with Michael in studio to share these stories of warriors, of life and of our liberty.”

Listeners can expect Waddell’s signature humor and warmth as he engages Colonel Nichols in heartfelt dialogue about the life lessons learned through service to others. Together, they reflect on the importance of supporting military and first responder communities, the role of faith in overcoming challenges, and the joys of building a legacy of love and resilience.

The Michael Waddell Podcast will release new episodes twice a month.

Waddell’s story began in the backwoods of Booger Bottom, Georgia, where he grew up surrounded by nature, family, and a love for the outdoors. A self-proclaimed “rowdy redneck,” his passion for hunting and storytelling led him to win a Realtree turkey-calling contest, which launched his career in the outdoor industry. From guiding and filming hunts to creating hit shows like Realtree Road Trips and Bone Collector, Waddell has become a beloved figure in the outdoor world.
