CMP Welcomes Brig. Gen. Lalor as Guest Speaker at JROTC Awards Ceremony

On March 23, 2024, the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) will host the JROTC Three-Position National Championships awards ceremony – recognizing the top sporter and precision air rifle JROTC teams and individuals from across the country.

The match prior to the awards ceremony is set to be held March 21-23 at the Gary Anderson CMP Competition Center, located on the grounds of Camp Perry in Ohio. The National Championship is the culminating event of a junior air rifle series that began in September with a total of 5,875 junior cadets in the Postal Championships. Leading scorers moved on to Regional Service Championships in February, held in Ohio, Alabama and Utah, before reaching the two-day National competition.

The JROTC awards ceremony, a formal occasion to celebrate the hard work of the 225 young cadets who made it to the National event, will be held at Kalahari Resorts Convention Center in nearby Sandusky. Along with dinner and awards, those in attendance will be addressed by special guest speaker, Brigadier General Michael Lalor.

Brig. Gen. Lalor assumed his duties as Commanding General of the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command, Army Materiel Command, on July 19, 2023. The command employs thousands of individuals around the world, with an annual budget of $30 billion. Currently, Lalor personally commands staff at the Detroit Arsenal headquarters as well as the Integrated Logistics Support Center, four depots, two arsenals and the Army’s ground equipment supply chain, life cycle management and sustainment efforts for active-duty units, globally.

Along with several honorable deployments to Afghanistan, Bosnia and other international posts, Lalor’s awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit (with three oak leaf clusters), the Bronze Star Medal (with two oak leaf clusters), the Meritorious Service Medal (with three oak leaf clusters), NATO Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge and Parachute Rigger Badge.

Given his many years of dedication to his country and his inspirational influence, the CMP is honored to have Brig. Gen. Lalor as the esteemed guest at the 2024 JROTC Nationals awards ceremony.

The JROTC Three-Position series is jointly conducted by the U.S. Army Cadet Command, U.S. Marine Corps TECOM (Training & Education Command), the Naval Service Training Command and AFOATS (Air Force Officer Accession and Training Schools).
