The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is in search of qualified individuals to fill counselor positions for its popular Junior Rifle Camps!
This premier program has established a history of providing high quality air rifle instruction for high school athletes around the country. Being a part of the Junior Rifle Camp program not only positively supports junior campers and coaches but may also be beneficial to the careers of counselors who lead instruction.
Camp Counselor positions are open to college students who:
- have completed at least one year of school and
- are members of an NCAA or college club rifle team.
Applicants must be available to work and travel throughout the 2025 summer for camps, though accommodations will be made for applicants competing in International Competition.
These are highly competitive positions, and selection will be based on a number of criteria including academic performance, shooting experience, coaching/youth leadership experience and references. All Camp Counselors who are selected for hire will be required to pass a background check and drug test before beginning employment.
Job duties will primarily consist of:
- Training groups of five or more high school-aged athletes of various skill levels
- Range setup, break down
- General cleanup
- Assisting with camper registrations and check-in
- Working various CMP events outside of the camps
Staff will have downtime factored into the summer but may work extended days and weeks. Counselors will represent CMP at all times during the summer and MUST adhere to a code of conduct for the duration of their employment.
discussions.
The pay scale for Camp Counselors begins at $400 a week for first year counselors, $450 for second year counselors and $500 for third year counselors and beyond. A per diem is also provided. All travel and lodging is covered by CMP once the camps begin, though counselors are responsible for providing their own transportation to the training location at the beginning of the summer and back to their homes at the end. Any additional travel counselors wish to make during their time off is their responsibility.
To be considered, applications must be received by March 21. Apply and review the 2025 camp schedule on the CMP website at https://thecmp.org/youth/junior-air-rifle-camps-and-clinics/.
The Civilian Marksmanship Program is a federally chartered 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation.
