Clays for Conservation Event Supports NWTF Mission in Wyoming

EDGEFIELD, S.C. — August is National Shooting Sports Month, making it a great time to hit the shooting range. Recently, the NWTF Southeast Wyoming Strutters and Spurs Chapter held a Clays for Conservation event, offering local residents the opportunity to support conservation while participating in a day of shooting.

Held at the Cheyenne Trap and Skeet Club in Cheyenne, Wyoming, the event saw a turnout of around 40 participants. Attendees had the opportunity to test their shooting skills while contributing to the conservation of wildlife habitats in Wyoming.

The event offered two entry options: $60 for 100 targets or $75 for 100 targets plus an NWTF membership and a chance to win the Wyoming NWTF Montana Knife Co. Speedgoat knife.

For every five targets broken, shooters earned entries into a raffle featuring a variety of prizes, including firearms, Yeti coolers and more, donated by local vendors and the NWTF.

“The event was a tremendous success,” said Casey Parker, NWTF Southeast Wyoming Strutters and Spurs chairperson. “We had a great turnout, fantastic prizes, perfect weather and a lot of fun. Hosting trap shooting events at the Cheyenne Trap and Skeet Club is an excellent way to engage the community and create a memorable experience for everyone involved.”

This year’s Clays for Conservation event was more than just a competition; it was an opportunity for the community to give back. The funds raised will support the NWTF’s ongoing mission throughout Wyoming, helping to conserve wild turkey habitats and protect our hunting traditions for future generations.

About the National Wild Turkey Federation

Since 1973, the National Wild Turkey Federation has invested over half a billion dollars into wildlife conservation and has positively impacted over 23 million acres of critical wildlife habitat. The NWTF has also invested over $10 million into wild turkey research to guide the management of the wild turkey population and to ensure sustainable populations into perpetuity. The organization continues to deliver its mission by working across boundaries on a landscape scale through its Four Shared Values: clean and abundant water, healthy forests and wildlife habitat, resilient communities, and robust recreational opportunities. With the help of its dedicated members, partners and staff, the NWTF continues its work to provide Healthy Habitats. and Healthy Harvests. for future generations.
