The Boone and Crockett Club is proud to announce Chevron has signed on as a Gold Trailblazer in Conservation partner. Additionally, Chevron is supporting the Club’s University Programs by helping to fund student fellows studying wildlife management. Chevron has committed to the Club’s overall mission to promote the conservation and management of wildlife, especially big game animals and habitat, to preserve and encourage hunting, and to maintain the highest ethical standards of fair chase and sportsmanship in North America.
“Chevron’s commitment to wildlife conservation and our University Programs helps us provide science-based knowledge from seasoned wildlife professionals to college graduates in the natural resources field that will better prepare them for the responsible and wise management of wildlife in the future,” said Tony Schoonen, chief executive officer of the Boone and Crockett Club. “As a Trailblazer in Conservation sponsor, Chevron will help us accomplish our mission, while showing their strong support for the Club’s conservation efforts.”
“Chevron seeks to provide meaningful mitigations to protect and improve wildlife and their habitats. We are committed to supporting wildlife conservation through our operations and our partnerships with critical organizations, like the Boone and Crockett Club,” said Kim McHugh, vice president of Chevron’s Rockies Business Unit. “The work of the Boone and Crockett Club and their University Programs helps us better understand wildlife activities and movements, to better prepare for future oil and natural gas development throughout Colorado.”
Since its founding by Theodore Roosevelt in 1887 the Boone and Crockett Club and its members led the development of policies that protected federal public lands, developed the frameworks of modern game laws, funded conservation efforts, and reinforced the vision of sustainable use of our natural resources. Throughout its history, these accomplishments have been supported through strategic partnerships with state and federal agencies, policy makers, other non-governmental conservation organizations, universities, and business and industry. The Boone and Crockett Club’s Trailblazers in Conservation partnership program aims to help companies rise to the challenges of a changing world. Becoming a Trailblazer in Conservation shows the commitment from industry partners and others to support the mutual interests of scientific wildlife management, hunter ethics, and conservation advocacy.
“We thank Chevron for becoming a Gold Trailblazer Sponsor of the Boone and Crockett Club, which supports our mission, but also extends to sponsoring our Annual Meeting in December and supporting the development of future wildlife professionals through our University Programs,” concluded Schoonen.
