Boone and Crockett Club Statement on Confirmation Hearing for B&C Professional Member Brian Nesvik as FWS Director

MISSOULA, Mont. (March 25, 2025) – On March 26, the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee is holding a confirmation hearing for Boone and Crockett Club Professional Member Brian Nesvik who has been nominated to serve as the next director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Last week, the Club submitted the following letter to the leadership of the committee in support of Nesvik:

The Boone and Crockett Club is pleased to offer our strong support for Brian Nesvik to serve as the next Director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS). As a Professional Member of the Boone and Crockett Club, Brian exemplifies the highest standards of conservation leadership, balancing science-based wildlife stewardship with collaborative management approaches that benefit both people and wildlife.

With nearly three decades of experience at the Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WYGFD), including serving as its Director from 2019 until his retirement in 2024, Nesvik has consistently demonstrated an ability to navigate complex wildlife management challenges. His leadership in advancing policies on wildlife migration, habitat conservation, and species stewardship has helped Wyoming set a national example in balancing conservation efforts with responsible land and resource management. Throughout his career, he has prioritized engagement with private landowners, sportsmen, and industry leaders, ensuring that conservation policies are well-informed and broadly supported.

His deep understanding of natural resource management, coupled with his military experience, positions him well to lead the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in a way that fosters cooperation between state and federal agencies, as well as private stakeholders. We look forward to working with him in bringing the same values to improving our National Wildlife Refuge System.

Nesvik is a results-driven leader with a strong record of collaborative problem-solving. His extensive background in wildlife management, strategic decision-making, and stakeholder engagement makes him uniquely qualified to lead the Fish and Wildlife Service. We are confident that Brian’s leadership will advance pragmatic, science-based conservation solutions that benefit both wildlife and people. We appreciate your consideration of his nomination and urge his confirmation as the next Director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
