Boone and Crockett Club Hires Frankie McBurney Olson as COO

MISSOULA, Mont. (December 16, 2025) – The Boone and Crockett Club announced today that Frankie McBurney Olson has been hired to serve as the organization’s Chief Operations Officer. A resident of Missoula, Ms. McBurney Olson brings 26 years of operations experience in the non-profit sector, including at Backcountry Hunters & Anglers for the last decade where she most recently served as the Vice President of Operations. She brings a deep commitment to the Club’s mission and a passion for hunting and conservation.

“Joining the Boone and Crockett Club as Chief Operations Officer is an incredible opportunity to advance a mission that has shaped conservation in North America for more than a century,” Ms. McBurney-Olson stated. “Boone and Crockett’s commitment to wildlife conservation, advocacy, education, and an ethos built on fair chase reflects the values that have driven my career in conservation over the past decade. I’m honored to contribute to Roosevelt’s legacy, and I’m looking forward to working alongside the Club’s dedicated staff, members, and partners as we strengthen the systems and relationships that support this mission for generations to come.”

A graduate of the University of Montana in 2003, Ms. Mc Burney Olson has worked with non-profit organizations in the state ever since. She served as a development officer at the University of Montana before taking positions with the American Cancer Society and Habitat for Humanity. She started with Backcountry Hunters & Anglers in 2015 as Director of Operations, served as interim chief executive officer during a leadership transition, and was promoted to Vice President of Operations in 2023. In that role, she played a key part in guiding the organization through periods of significant growth and change focusing on implementing scalable systems, enhancing operational efficiency, and fostering a positive organizational culture.

“Frankie brings extensive experience in executive leadership and non-profit management to the Boone and Crockett Club and will be an important team member in enhancing our operations,” commented Club Executive Vice President of Administration Steven Leath who led the search committee. “We look forward to her working closely with our staff and members from our headquarters in Missoula and know that her commitment to conservation and her organizational skills will be an asset to the Club.”

Ms. Mc Burney Olson is a Montana native, and lives in Missoula, Montana with her husband and children. The family enjoys exploring all that western Montana has to offer, including hunting, fishing, skiing, and embarking on outdoor adventures. “Raising our children and seeing their love of the outdoors has deepened my commitment to conservation, especially as we strive to help protect our outdoor heritage for future generations,” she concluded.

Ms. McBurney Olson will work from the Club’s headquarters in Missoula, Montana and will start her new position in January 2026.
