Big Horn Armory to showcase three rifles, including the Model 89 Black Thunder, at Booth 5336, Feb. 13 – 16, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Cody, Wyo. (February 2025) – Big Horn Armory (BHA), makers of big-bore firearms, is proud to announce its participation in the 2025 Western Hunting & Conservation Expo (WHCE) alongside Wyoming Arms. BHA will have three rifles, including the innovative Model 89 Black Thunder, on display at Wyoming Arms’ Booth 5336 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, Feb. 13 – 16, 2025. Attendees are encouraged to visit the booth to get a hands-on look at BHA’s heirloom quality big-bore rifles and to connect with the BHA and Wyoming Arms teams.

“Partnering with Wyoming Arms at this year’s Western Hunting Expo is an exciting opportunity for Big Horn Armory to showcase our rifles to dedicated hunters and conservationists,” said Greg Buchel, President of Big Horn Armory. “The WHCE is more than just an industry event – it’s a gathering of people who care about the future of hunting and wildlife conservation, and we’re proud to be a part of that mission.”

The BHA Model 89 Black Thunder (Model 89BT) is a compact, powerful .500 S&W Magnum tactical lever-action rifle built for hunting, home defense, and survival. Its 16” trapper barrel and hunter-friendly curved lever ensure fast handling and smooth cycling, even with gloves. Constructed from stainless steel heat-treated and coated with a black nitride finish and featuring black laminate stock, it is built for durability in any environment. The M-LOK forend rail allows for accessories like lights or lasers, while a tank-style muzzle brake, fiber optics front sight, and Skinner adjustable rear sight provide superior performance. The Scout Scope Mount rail supports red dot, holographic, or scout scopes, making the Model 89BT an adaptable, high-impact firearm capable of taking down any game animal on the planet.

The WHCE is a premier event for hunters, conservationists, and outdoor enthusiasts, raising millions for wildlife and critical conservation efforts. In 2024, the event generated $15.2 million to support wildlife and habitat projects across the West. Hosted by the Mule Deer Foundation and Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife, in collaboration with the State of Utah and the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, the Expo brings together the hunting community to celebrate and support conservation.

About Big Horn Armory:

Big Horn Armory was founded in 2008 with the expressed intention of designing a Browning-type lever-action gun chambered in 500 Smith & Wesson Magnum. The Big Horn Armory Model 89, made in America, closely follows the work of John Browning with refinements courtesy of modern metallurgy and machining capabilities. The first rifles began shipping in September of 2012 and since then, BHA has added to their big bore lineup with a Model 90 Carbine in 460 S&W, the Model 90A in 454 Casull, the Model 90B in .45 Colt, the Model 89A in 500 Linebaugh and the Model 89B in .475 Linebaugh. In 2017, Big Horn Armory took a departure from its lever-action series and developed the AR500 Auto Max, the most powerful short-range, semi-auto based on an AR .308 platform.
