Weekend Open Thread: Anything but Metric Edition

Welcome back boys and girls! If it seems like forever since we have had a WOT, it is kinda the case.

We finally put a fork in the April issue early this week, which is way later than we intended.

I had my stuff turned in, then we decided to add Knife News too, which I finished last friday.

I could have worked on the WOT after that, but it was my anniversary (22 years) last Friday, and I wasn’t going to make it my last one by ignoring my wife and looking at memes.

We have shared a plethora of metric system memes along the way,

but I had a couple of new ones and I needed a theme.

That one has been shared before, but it was worth bringing back.
An exceptional one could throw it 4-5.

We are the only ones who have walked on the moon though, so we have that going for us.

That’s no moon…

We measure booze and soda too…

Of course…

Not a fan…

She looks pale and anorexic.

Sod off commies.

Smart kid.

So all of these memes lead up to one of the best SNL skits of the past several years…

I have seen it more than a dozen times, and it still makes me laugh. Seemed relevant to tonight’s memes.

Moving on to this weekend’s knife shows, from the KNIFE Magazine Events Calendar:

And next weekend there is one in my neck of the woods.

I doubt I will make it. My son has AAU basketball and then we head out for Spring break.

Our more topical/current event memes are a bit all over the place. No particular theme other than somewhat related to the news.

The DOGE stuff continues to be in the news, and since “DOGE” started as a meme, it is only fitting that there are memes galore.

I’d feel bad, but our institutions have not exactly covered themselves in glory.  So we meme about it.

Did you hear that they fired the only person who knows how to unlock the bathrooms at Yosemite?

I find that a problem on the management end. You need more robustness in any system.

The Epstein list turned out to be a nothing burger.

Freddy “Boom Boom” Washington is safe.

As is anyone on the list apparently.

Of course not.

Not like things are better across the pond though.

The Oval office meeting with Zelensky went off the rails,

But the memes were lit. So we can laugh our way through the prelude to WWIII.

Speaking of WWIII…

“There are certain sections of New York, Major, that I wouldn’t advise you to try to invade.” – Rick Blaine

Is there gold in Fort Knox or not?

Inquiring minds want to know.

One of the stranger meme themes that went viral this week are Cabbage Patch-esque depictions of JD Vance..

That is a survey, here are some you won’t unsee…

I am going to post these without comment, since there isn’t much to say…

OK, enough of that.

I hope that we are done with the plane crashes…

That plane crash was actually in Canada.

Hi Del!

Valid Ask…

And wrapping this section up…

It is good to be a Buckeye…

But it might be just as good…

and potentially even better to be a Cavs fan.

I have followed them as closely this year as I have in years. My son is getting into the NBA, and while it is not my favorite, I am happy to share any sport with him, and am willing to meet him halfway.

We have a winner of the CRKT Hunt N’ Fisch… Congrats to Cmeat who is the first to be drawn twice, thereby earning a second token and the victory.

Now we move on to Vosteed.

We will start at the upper lefthand corner with the Racoon Cub liner lock. The others in clockwise order are the Mini Acorn, Corgi, and full sized Raccoon.

Info on the Raccoon Cub

Name: Raccoon Cub
Blade Length: 2.34″ | 59.50 mm
Overall Length: 5.57″ | 141.60 mm
Blade Width: 0.98″ | 25.00 mm
Blade Thickness: 0.098″ | 2.50 mm
Blade Material: 14C28N
Blade Grind: Flat
Blade Style: Drop Point
Blade Finish: Black Stonewash
Hardness: HRC 60±
Handle Length: 3.23″ | 82.10 mm
Handle Width: 1.00″ | 25.50 mm

The knife reminds me of a front-flipper version of a Baby Banter. Nice knife, with good snap for a smaller blade. Would be a great option for a 5th pocket knife.

Usual rules apply. Up to 5 comments or replies are your entries, and if you are new to the blog your entries count double. They will be held in moderation until I have a chance to approve the first batch.

Good luck everyone.

And now for our non-themed memes of the week. Just things I found funny.

Don’t do it. Some fluffy things are not frens.

We are not going to make it as a species are we?

Gross, but funny.

Gross, but not funny.

The struggle is real…

This happened all the time when I would be guiding.

An Audience messed with people.

Used to be a regular pastime among guides.

Not fooling anyone Peyton.

I’d be happy with either. No age discrimination here.

True.

Random Baseball fact of the day…

Name the player. Free hat or tshirt to first person with right answer.

This dude has skillz…

Speaking of sticking things together…

Dumb joke alert…

Don’t say you weren’t warned.

Things are a bit quieter on the Israel front.  There is a nominal cease-fire while more “negotiations” take place. Every weekend since October 7th, 2023, I dedicated a small portion of the WOT to calling for the release of the hostages, and condemning the antisemitism that I never imagined I would see on the streets of America.

That would be a war crime, unlike the way Israel is actually conducting this war. The ratio of civilian to militant deaths is well below what is expected in an urban conflict.

Forbes describes it well, click the image for the article:

I am just unwilling to remain silent when I have a platform to speak out in support of our ally, and the only liberal Democracy in the Middle East.

There is no “palestinian genocide”.

There is never a great way to bring things back to humor, but I have historically used the musical guest, in this case the Comedy Guest, to aid in the effort.

The sequel skit to the one I shared above is not quite as good as Part 1, but it is still pretty funny.

Memes > Legacy Media

Making Memes is even better.

Or to put it another way…

I wonder if my FBI monitor is being laid off.

Censor this MFrs!
