MANCHESTER, KY (2-minute read) — A juvenile in Manchester, Kentucky, fatally shot two men attempting a home invasion, according to Kentucky State Police.

Authorities say Clay County 911 alerted them to a shooting incident, where officers found two men with gunshot wounds inside a residence. Investigators determined that the men, identified as 44-year-old Roger Smith and 51-year-old Jeffrey Allen, had broken into the home, intending to steal firearms from a safe.

During the break-in, the juvenile resident saw the armed intruders and responded by shooting both with a handgun. The exact circumstances leading up to the confrontation remain under investigation.

While Kentucky is known for its strong self-defense laws, this case highlights the unpredictable dangers of home invasions. Firearm safety and responsible gun ownership are essential, especially in households with minors.

Authorities have not yet announced whether any charges will be filed, and the investigation is ongoing.

Safety Tip: If you have firearms in your home, ensure they are securely stored and that all household members understand firearm safety. Training and education are key to responsible gun ownership.
