NWTF Launches Free Educational Hunting Webinars

EDGEFIELD, S.C. — For anyone new to hunting or curious about how to get started, navigating the process can feel overwhelming. To help make it easier, the National Wild Turkey Federation is hosting a series of free educational webinars this winter.

These sessions are designed to help beginners and those looking to expand their hunting skills by covering foundational and practical aspects of hunting. Each webinar will include a presentation on the week’s topic followed by ample Q&A time. Join Jen Davis, NWTF’s Hunting and Shooting R3 Coordinator, from 3–4:30 p.m. Eastern Time for any or all these sessions.

Dec 19 – Next Steps After Hunter Safety

Dive deeper into hunting fundamentals by exploring various hunting methods and pathways to gaining experience. Whether through personal mentors, guided hunts, classes or self-education, participants will learn how to refine their approach to hunting. This session will also help attendees select a hunting method, species and tools, encouraging participants to align their choices with their values and ethics while considering the skills and time required for mastery.

Jan 2 – Tool Selection and Preparation

This session will delve deeper into choosing your preferred hunting tool and information about all options available, such as archery equipment, rifles and shotguns. Discussion on how to practice with your preferred choice, maintenance and more will be covered.

Participants will also learn about essential hunting gear like camouflage, blinds, decoys, and more to ensure they are fully prepared for the field.

Jan 16 – Scouting Deep Dive

Scouting is a critical part of hunting success, and this webinar covers all the basics. Learn how to evaluate public vs. private lands, e-scout effectively and scout in-person with tips on what to bring and how to identify wildlife signs and hunting pressure. Participants will gain the knowledge they need to locate hunting spots while staying safe.

Feb 6 – Everything Goes Right…Now What?

This webinar will cover the final steps in the hunting process — what to do after you harvest your game. Topics include the rules for handling big vs. small game, field dressing basics, processing options and kitchen preparation. Attendees will learn about butchery practices, cooking techniques and recipes to make the most of their harvest.
