Larysa says, “When I first was introduced to the outdoor industry, Jim Shockey was a household name and I remember watching him win Golden Moose Awards back in the day during SHOT show. It’s truly an honor to be interviewed by a hunting legend such as Jim Shockey since he has been and continues to be one of my role models in this industry. I also hope these episodes let people learn more about me and what I’m truly about.”
Larysa Switlyk traveled to Vancouver Island, B.C. in July of 2024 and visited Jim Shockey’s Hand of Man Museum of Natural History, Cultural Arts and Conservation. It is a must visit while touring on the island and extremely impressive that Shockey was able to collect all these artifacts over the years.
The museum has a studio where Larysa got to sit down across from Shockey and chat about everything outdoors and her career in the industry. They had a great time exchanging hunting and traveling stories about the different places they have visited and animals they have hunted.
The first episode provides Larysa’s origin into the hunting and fishing industry and her journey of dedicating her life to the outdoors. She emphasizes the benefits of sustainable hunting practices that directly lead to conservation. She has a unique story which even Shockey was surprised to hear the details on some of the hunts that she has been on that even he has never done! The next two episodes will jump into different hunting adventures that were documented for her television show “Larysa Unleashed” which airs on the Pursuit Channel on Monday’s at 9:30 am est. as well as an introduction about the non-profit she started called Unleashed Outdoor Education and Wildlife Conservation Inc.
You can tune in to hear stories about Switlyk’s most adventurous hunts around the globe and also how she won the Capra World Slam completing hunting 12 capra species. Also some incredible tales about her hunts in Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Kodiak Island and British Columbia.
