KnifeNews: Civivi Placoid is a Rugged Workhorse Folder

In our ongoing coverage of Civivi’s ongoing, steady release schedule, we last covered the Hyperpulse, a straightforward, mid-sized EDC flipper. If you were hoping for something a little heftier from the prolific production company, you may want to check out the Placoid, another incoming folder model.

In settling on names for its releases, Civivi has been ransacking the dictionary and pulling out some pleasingly obscure terminology. “Placoid” refers specifically to a particular style of fish scale, shaped somewhat like a tooth; so, in a broader sense, it can also mean anything that is toothlike – and as our brain continues to expand in consideration of this, it occurs to us that many blade shapes have a certain affinity with the shape of a predator’s tooth!

Civivi is certainly prolific. Somehow I can’t get as excited over this one as I am over the Yonder.
