Paris, France- A 52-year streak of success continued in Paris with Easton shooters capturing 30 of 30 medals awarded in the intense archery competition in the Paris Summer Games. Easton’s X10 shaft once again captured every Summer Games title, cementing its place as the most successful individual piece of equipment in any Summer Games sport.
With an epic finals battle for the men’s Gold Medal, the USA’s Brady Ellison and Korea’s Kim, Woo-jin battled to the last millimeter, with both shooting a 10 in a tension-filled shoot-off. In the end, Kim won by a better of millimeters, with Ellison taking silver. Korea’s Lee, Woo-seok took the men’s bronze.
Team Korea took the women’s team, mixed team, men’s team and individual men’s and women’s gold. Korea’s archers have relied on Easton shafts for their past 40 years of Games participation, with the Korean women having an unbroken gold medal team round sweep since the implementation of the team round in 1988.
For the women’s individual final, Korea’s Lim, Si-hyeon defeated teammate Nam Su-hyeon for the gold, either French archer Lisa Barbelin taking the bronze. China and Mexico took the silver and bronze women’s team medals, while France and Turkey took the men’s team silver and bronze.
In mixed team competition, Korea’s Kim and Lim took the gold, while German stars Michelle Kroppen and Florian Unruh took silver. America’s Brady Ellison and Casey Kaufhold took the mixed team bronze- giving the USA their first women’s medal since 1988.
