Teen Uses Firearm To Protect Mother From Stepfather Assault

In Lillian, Texas, a brave teenager intervened using a firearm to protect his mother from an assault by his stepfather.

LILLIAN, TX (1-minute read) — A juvenile in Lillian, Texas, used a firearm to protect his mother from an assault by his 48-year-old stepfather on Wednesday night. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office reported that they received an emergency call from the teen, who admitted to shooting his stepfather to prevent further harm to his mother.

Upon arrival, deputies found the stepfather with a gunshot wound and immediately transported him to a hospital in Mansfield, where he was later pronounced dead. According to medical records, the man died at 11:20 p.m. from a gunshot wound to his back.

The sheriff’s office conducted interviews with the juvenile, his mother, and other witnesses. These interviews revealed that the juvenile acted in self-defense to stop the assault. After the interviews, the juvenile was released into the custody of his grandmother.

The sheriff’s office has chosen not to disclose the identity of the deceased man to protect the juvenile, who has not been charged or arrested in connection with the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.

Safety Tip: If you find yourself in a dangerous situation, always prioritize calling 911 first. Keep a safe distance, and only use a firearm as a last resort to protect yourself or others from immediate harm.
