Let’s be honest: Most hunting blinds are either a pain to put together or a pain to move. The Orion 68VT is designed to avoid both, with a modular setup that Orion says is easier to assemble and lighter than most hard-sided blinds. I put one together (with the help of my husband) and spent a lot of hours in it to see how those claims held up in the real world. Here’s what I liked, what I didn’t, and whether this blind is worth the splurge.

Setup
One of the big selling points of the Hunt Orion blind is that you can set it up with “no tractor, no skid steer, no forks.” A.k.a. you don’t need any equipment or any tools for that matter. And my husband and I proved that is true. It took us a bit of time to get the base built, but after that, the blind itself snapped together very quickly and easily. The panels are made of aluminum, so we were able to carry them up the steps to the platform without using our tractor to lift them. We got the blind itself (minus the base) put together in less than 15 minutes. I imagine the whole process was way easier than assembling other heavier blinds and I will admit it wasn’t hard, just tedious. One note: I would definitely recommend having a buddy help build your blind. It’s a lot smoother with two people.

Visibility and Shooting
With seven vertical windows and two horizontal ones, this blind is ideal for both bowhunters and rifle shooters. The windows give you a really good field of view, so I can keep tabs on what’s happening all around the blind without constantly repositioning myself. There’s also plenty of room to adjust your shooting position without feeling like you’re fighting for space or bumping into the windows. Speaking of windows, I like that I can open only the ones I need, which minimizes movement.
Comfort and Space
To say this blind is nice inside is an understatement. This thing is just downright luxe. So much so that my brother-in-law if he asked to take his shoes off to come in. The carpet is soft and somewhat plush, and the padded walls make the whole thing feel more like a hunting room than a blind. Space-wise, it is very roomy. It comfortably fits three adults, although two is more ideal for optimal shooting space in my opinion.
Concealment and Weather Protection
The Orion does a really good job of keeping you hidden without making you feel like you’re hiding in a cave. The insulated panels and roof do a surprisingly good job of muffling sound, so it’s almost soundproof when you’re inside, and the deer have yet to notice us in there even when we’re moving around. On some really windy, wet days, the heavy-duty walls kept all the water out while also cutting down on the wind noise. Once you’ve got the windows closed and the door latched, it feels pretty sealed up.
Final Verdict
Is the Hunt Orion blind cheap? Absolutely not. But is it well worth the investment? Absolutely yes—if you want a blind you can leave up and hunt out of season after season. There’s a lot to love, from the roomy interior and spacious design to the (somewhat) easy assembly and excellent visibility. Honestly, once you spend any time hunting out of the Orion, it’s pretty easy to see where your money went. This is the kind of blind that makes sitting all day feel a whole lot more enjoyable and a whole lot more comfortable.
