JAMES LOFTON RECEIVES 2026 HSCF PRESIDENT’S AWARD

Houston, TX – [January 12, 2026] – Houston Safari Club Foundation (HSCF) proudly announces James Lofton as the recipient of the 2026 HSCF President’s Award, presented at the 2026 Houston Safari Club Foundation Worldwide Hunting Expo & Convention.

The HSCF President’s Award is presented annually to recognize an outstanding HSCF member whose contributions exceed the expectations of membership in support of the Foundation’s mission. Recipients are honored for exceptional leadership, outstanding service, superior performance, collaboration, and their ability to inspire others through service to conservation, education, and ethical hunting.

James Lofton has spent more than 25 years as an ambassador for the hunting and shooting sports, dedicating his time, leadership, and resources to advancing hunting traditions, conservation, and education. A committed member of Houston Safari Club Foundation, Lofton is also a Benefactor Member of the National Rifle Association, a Life Member of the North American Hunting Club, and an active member of the Congressional Sportsman Foundation and Gun Owners of America, among other conservation and advocacy organizations.

Lofton is particularly passionate about introducing new hunters to the sport and preserving hunting and firearm rights for future generations. His enthusiasm and willingness to serve have made him a respected leader within HSCF and the broader conservation community.

“James has a genuine passion and caring for HSCF. He has had several different roles with the organization, including past president, and continues to be involved as Hunting Awards Chairperson. He has and continues to work for ways to improve HSCF,” said Jeff Garrett, current HSCF President.

James has a long history of volunteer leadership and charitable service. From 2009 to 2017, he served as the founder and chairman of the DFW Oilman’s Tactical Shoot, an event that raised funds in support of military and veteran-focused organizations, including Combat Marine Outdoors (CMO). CMO provides Purple Heart recipients with hunting and fishing opportunities as part of their recovery and rehabilitation. Lofton considers sharing camp with these heroes among the most meaningful experiences of his hunting life. He also served as Chairman of the Shoot from the Heart Brazos Valley Sporting Clays Tournament from 2004 to 2007.

Following his graduation from Texas A&M University, Lofton has spent 28 years in the oil and gas industry and currently serves as Managing Partner of JAN Resources, LLC, an oilfield service company specializing in water treatment and completion chemicals. His professional leadership extends beyond business, having served five years on the Fort Worth Society of Petroleum Engineers Board of Directors, including terms as President and Scholarship Chairman.

James and his wife Kathryn Lofton, also an HSCF member, are strong supporters of HSCF fundraising initiatives and conservation programs. They have participated in numerous convention auctions, including successfully bidding on multiple hunts and items, highlighted by two safaris in Namibia completed in 2019. One of these safaris was shared with James’ father, who inspired his lifelong passion for hunting and taught him that time spent outdoors provides invaluable life lessons and fosters respect for wildlife and wild places.

Within Houston Safari Club Foundation, Lofton has provided extensive leadership, serving as a Director on the HSCF Board from 2020 to 2024, President from 2024 to 2025, Grants Chairperson for three years, and Convention Chairperson in 2024. His service has directly strengthened HSCF’s conservation impact, fundraising success, and organizational effectiveness.
