Celebrate Freedom with Steelhead Outdoors’ Limited-Edition Founders Pistol Lock Box

Patriotic colors combine with trusted American-made security

Shakopee, MN (July 1, 2025 ) Steelhead Outdoors introduces a limited-edition pistol lock box with a sophisticated blue steel body and rich red opening handle. Just in time to celebrate the 4th of July, America’s freedoms and America’s founders, the Fast Access Pistol Box Founders edition is available at Steelheadoutdoors.com and SafeandVaultStore.com. All Steelhead Outdoors firearm storage solutions are proudly Made in the USA.

The Founders limited-edition provides gun owners with a bold blue-and-red color design to celebrate American pride. This secure storage solution measures 8.5 inches wide, 12.25 inches long, and 3 inches high, weighing just under 15 pounds. Engineered for mobility and durability, the Founders Edition features a Genuine Simplex mechanical lock offering quick access without relying on electronics, batteries, or keys. Ideal for travel, it transitions seamlessly from home nightstand to vehicle or hotel room. The Founders Edition is priced at $310, while the standard Fast Access Pistol Lock Box has an MSRP of $300.

To enhance security, Steelhead Outdoors offers optional American-made security cables to tether the lock box to immovable objects. Thicker than the competition, these beefy cables feature a heavy-duty ¼” galvanized steel cable, nylon-coated to a 5/16” thickness and rated for 6,000 pounds of force. The cables are thicker than competitor cables and help deter thieves. Designed for universal compatibility, the cables come with a looped end and a stopper button to anchor securely to the lock box. Available in both 3-foot and 6-foot versions, these cables are an excellent theft deterrent.

“We created the Founders Edition to celebrate and honor our country’s freedom and craftsmanship,” said Steelhead Outdoors Co-Founder Corey Meyer. “This eye-catching, limited-edition lock box is perfect for anyone who values bold design, American manufacturing, and safe firearm storage.”

Crafted entirely from American 12-gauge steel, Steelhead HD pistol boxes are 75% to 160% thicker than most competitors who manufacture overseas using 16- to 20-gauge metal. The lock boxes are equipped with oversized ¼” hinges that are staked, welded, and feature an integrated pin guard to resist punch attacks. Steelhead’s hinges offer twice the thickness of most standard hinges. Interior protection includes dual 3/8” foam layers on the bottom to customize firearm fit, and thick, compressible convoluted foam on top to secure items during movement. Original lock boxes feature a textured black powder coat finish paired with a charcoal gray handle.

Thanks to their portable design, Steelhead’s lock boxes provide firearm owners with a practical solution for securing their weapons at home, in the car, or at the office. They can help prevent accidental discharge and reduce the risk of theft. In some states, they may also assist gun owners in meeting legal requirements for firearm storage. According to the National Shooting Sports Foundation, storing firearms locked and out of sight when not in use is a crucial safety practice. Peace of mind is an intangible, but it can be reassuring that a firearm is locked out of the reach of children, pets, or unauthorized individuals.

Steelhead proudly makes its Made-in-USA weapon storage units including lockboxes in Shakopee, MN. In addition, Steelhead Outdoors offers modular gun safes, gun and ammo cabinets, vault doors and custom weapon storage options for consumers and law enforcement.

About Steelhead Outdoors:

Founded in 2016, Steelhead Outdoors is an innovative safe company offering the only American-made, modular, fire-insulated gun safe available currently on the market. Longtime friends, engineers and avid outdoorsmen, Charlie Pehrson and Corey Meyer, searched for a gun safe that was Made in USA, adaptable and offered a respectable level of fire and theft protection, but they soon realized this product didn’t exist. Since they couldn’t buy it, they decided to build it. Steelhead Outdoors was created with the goal of building a safe that customers could, and would want to, take with them from one home to the next, or pass down from one generation to the next. Four years of research and development went into the flagship Nomad Series, to create a durable, lasting and innovative modular gun safe. Headquartered in Shakopee, Minnesota, where all products are proudly designed, manufactured and shipped. Learn more at SteelheadOutdoors.com
