According to the Manitou Springs Police Department (MSPD), officers and emergency responders were dispatched around 7 p.m. following a 911 call reporting a stabbing.
Authorities say the suspect, 22-year-old Wyatt Pearson, arrived at the man’s residence and stabbed him in the neck outside the home. Despite his injury, the homeowner retrieved a firearm and shot Pearson twice—in the stomach and chest—before calling emergency services. Both men were transported to a local hospital and are currently listed in stable condition.
Following the initial investigation, police determined that Pearson was the aggressor in the situation. He has since been arrested and faces serious charges including criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder and first-degree assault. Law enforcement has indicated that the confrontation appears to have been motivated by a marital or relationship-related dispute, although further details have not been disclosed.
Pearson remains hospitalized and will be booked into jail upon release. The homeowner, who acted in self-defense, is not facing charges.
