Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. (NYSE: RGR) is thrilled to announce that Team Ruger’s junior shooting team secured several individual divisional titles from the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) College Nationals.
Representing both Ruger and their respective collegiate teams, Kaleb Klein, Abby Jackley and Connor Knapp competed at the College Nationals, held at the CMP Marksmanship Park in Talladega, Alabama. Klein made a commanding start, capturing individual men’s first place titles for Optic Rimfire Rifle, Iron Sight Rimfire Rifle, PCC, Rimfire Pistol Optic, Rimfire Revolver Iron Sights and Centerfire Revolver Iron Sights divisions. He also took home second place finishes in Iron Sight Rimfire Pistol and 1911 Pistol, along with a third place finish in the Centerfire Pistol Optics division.
Teammate Connor Knapp delivered a strong performance, claiming second place in the Centerfire Pistol Optics, Rimfire Revolver Iron Sight and Centerfire Revolver Iron Sights divisions. He also secured third place finishes in Rimfire Pistol Optic, Optic Rimfire Rifle, Iron Sight Rimfire Rifle and Rimfire Pistol Optics.
Meanwhile, Abby Jackley showcased her skill, earning first place finishes in the individual ladies’ divisions for Centerfire Pistol Iron Sights, Centerfire Revolver Iron Sight, 1911 Pistol and Rimfire Revolver Iron Sights. She also added a third place finish in the Centerfire Pistol Optics division.
The junior team competed with a variety of Ruger® firearms, including the Ruger American® Competition Pistol, SR1911® pistol and the PC Carbine™, all chambered in 9mm Luger. They also used the Mark IV™ series of pistols, 10/22® rifles, the GP100® revolver chambered in .22 LR and the Ruger Custom Shop® Super GP100 chambered in .357 Mag /.38 Special.
In addition, Team Ruger’s Lauryl Akenhead continued her dominance in the Precision Rifle Series, competing at the South Iowa Showdown PRS Championship held at GE Precision in Diagonal, IA. Akenhead claimed the top spot in the Production division as well as High Lady overall, competing with her Ruger Custom Shop Precision Rifle chambered in 6mm Creedmoor.
